SINFONIETTA RĪGA AND MATTHEW BARLEY | AD LUCEM
Another special event will be the long awaited meeting of the celebrated British cellist and one of the resident artists of the Introvert Art Festival AD LUCEM, Matthew Barley, and chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga, led by conductor Normunds Šnē, on June 30 in the Riga St. Peter's Church. The musicality and stylistic approach of both is full of youthful vigour and enthusiasm, driven by unceasing joy of discovery and always striving towards top level performance. The audience will enjoy Latvian composer Andris Dzenītis' composition for seven brass wind instruments and string orchestra In Se I, and the world-famous British composer Sir John Tavener's work The Protecting Veil that has already become a modern classic amongst contemporary long-form music. The captivating performances of Matthew Barley are already well-known and loved by our audiences from his legendary eight-hour Night Meditation concerts the artist has given in AD LUCEM festivals since 2010.
