Viktors Stankēvičs first started learning to play the double bass in Daugavpils Music Secondary School and continued in the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in 2011 and a Master’s degree in 2013. In addition to that, in 2012 as a part of an exchange programme he studied in the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts under Petru Iuga.
Viktors has participated in master classes of Miloslav Jelínek (Czech Republic), Gunārs Upatnieks (Latvia), Stefano Sciascia (Italy), Alexander Shilo (Russia).
Since 2008 Viktors is a musician in the double bass section of Sinfonietta Rīga and since 2013 he works in the Latvian National Opera and Ballet Orchestra. In addition to his orchestra work, he also teaches double bass performance in the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.
Viktors Stankēvičs has performed in Europe, Asia and the US both with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and the Latvian National Opera and Ballet Orchestra.
