Concert in support of the Freedom Fighters of Ukraine

A thrilling and warm reception of our Ukrainian guests took place tonight at the Great Guild Hall. Although still with open wounds, with pain, with desperate eyes, but the shoulder of a friend, true understanding - can strengthen, encourage and heal!

Thanks to the chief conductor of the Kyiv Chamber Orchestra Natalia Ponomarchuk for the introduction to the ladscape of Ukrainian musical images, thanks to the majestic soloist, mezzo-soprano Oksana Nikitiuk for a piece of the brilliance of Ukrainian nature!

Tonight we heard Leonid Hrabovsky's Concerto Misterioso, Oleh Kiva's Third Chamber Cantata based on Pavlo Tichin's poems, Valentin Silvestrov's "Serenade" and Ludwig van Beethoven's Seventh Symphony.

“Is that the face of a man or a beast?”

The wind from Ukraine laughs,

the wind laughs from Ukraine!

Damn wind! Damn wind!

His voice rang out from the Dnieper:

no, Pans, don't hope for luck,

well your song is over!

My heart loves nothing so much

like a gust of wind

like his ways, his pain

and land

own land.

/Pavlo Tichin/
